This instrument is a primary meter for measuring precipitation, and its performance meets the requirements of the national standard GB/T 21978.2-2014, "Requirements for Precipitation Observation."
The core component of this instrument—the tipping bucket—features a three-dimensional streamlined design and is made entirely of stainless steel, ensuring smoother water tipping and offering self-cleaning capabilities that make it easy to remove dust and clean. It outputs a 485 pulse signal, allowing direct reading of rainfall amounts without the need for secondary calculations, making it simple and convenient.
II. Structural Features
As shown in Figure 1, this instrument consists of a rain gauge housing, a rain-collecting device, a funnel, a tipping-bucket support, a tipping bucket, bearing screws, an outlet chamber, a sealing connector, a reed switch, a spirit level, an adjustment support plate, a control box, a leveling device, wiring terminals, leg supports, and a rain gauge base. Specifically, the rain gauge base is equipped with a tipping-bucket shaft, a circular spirit level, a reed-switch bracket, and a signal-output terminal. Unlike other tipping-bucket rain gauges, the tipping-bucket shaft sleeve in this instrument features an integrated positioning structure. The tipping bucket is mounted onto the shaft bearing via the tipping-bucket shaft. The internal components of this instrument are fully assembled at the factory, eliminating the need for on-site assembly of the internal structure and thus greatly simplifying field installation.
The hopper of this instrument features a three-dimensional streamlined design and is equipped with a drooping, curved guide tip. Its elegant and smooth shape enhances water-flipping performance and makes it easy to clean and maintain.
The tipping bucket of this instrument is equipped with a permanent magnet, and the reed switch holder is fitted with a reed switch. At the time of出厂, both the magnet and the reed switch have been adjusted to an optimal coupling distance, ensuring that the instrument’s output signal maintains a definite proportional relationship with the number of times the tipping bucket has turned.
When this instrument leaves the factory, the tipping bucket angle adjustment screw has been locked in the optimal angle reference position, and the angle screw has been sealed with red paint. During on-site installation, users only need to adjust the spirit level to the center position according to the instructions provided in this manual—no further adjustment of the tipping bucket angle is required on site.
